Life Story

Salvadore Levy, 97, passed away on March 23rd, 2021 peacefully at his home in Bayside, NY. Born November 23rd, 1923, Sal grew up in the Lower East Side of Manhattan and was a decorated World War II veteran, after his service in Normandy, France. Sal worked as a mechanical engineer for both the Federal and City Government of New York for many years, and was an active member of the Pashas Sephardic Brotherhood.

Beloved husband of Judy, the two shared their lives together, traveling all over the world, and frequently to New Orleans, Louisiana. Sal and Judy were a beautiful pair from the moment they met, to their marriage of over 40 years. They both shared a love of ballroom dancing, going out to restaurants and the theater, and of course ice cream. Sal leaves behind a wonderful sister-in-law, Ann Halper, and the entire Halper family.

Salvadore was a loving father to Wendy Tuchfeld, Robyn (Ricky) Acarino, Jackie Levy, Amy Torres (Scott Johnson), and Pete Tufel. A devoted grandfather to his five grandchildren, Samantha Weitzberg (Brent), Zachary Tuchfeld (fiancee Emily Evans), Ashley Acarino, Nicole Smith (Nicholas), Danielle Cohen (Shawn), and five great-grandchildren, Ulysses, Orion, Soren, Ryder, and Hudson.

Sal enjoyed celebrating special occasions and toasting, "to happy days". He especially loved Thanksgiving, as it always fell around his birthday.
Predeceased by his brother, Ralph Levy, and parents Jacques and Rose Levy.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, March 26, 2021: http://www.MountHopeCemetery.com
