Betty Reinowitz died peacefully on August 2, 2022. She was 90 years old. Betty was predeceased by her husband Fred, her parents, Belle (Sitzer) and Benjamin Cohen, her sister, Shirley Kobliner, and brother Murray Cohen.
Born on March 18, 1932 in Queens, Betty spoke often about helping her dad in his Astoria-based pharmacy where she enjoyed milk shakes at the soda counter and helping customers. She graduated from City College and went on to teach business studies in the NYC public school system.
Betty met Fred at a singles dance in Manhattan and married him on August 28, 1960. They spent over 60 wonderful years together. Betty was a creative soul: she loved and had a talent for painting and sculpting. She combined that creativity with a great sense of humor. Her house was filled with posters and cards she made to commemorate various occasions that kept everyone laughing. Betty loved traveling, watching classical movies, opera and ballet. Betty especially loved her family.
Fred and Betty lived happily together in their house in Bayside Queens for over 45 years, where they raised their three children, Bonnie, married to Richard Perloff, Robin, married to Julian Alssid, and Douglas Reiner. Betty adored her grandchildren, Brittany Perloff, Michael, Bella and Laila Alssid.
So very sorry for your loss. Wishing you comfort and courage through these hard moments.
