Michael majored in business at the University of Miami, Florida and graduated from the American Academy McAllister Institute of Funeral Service in 1980. Michael has over three decades of experience in the funeral industry. He is a member of The Jewish Funeral Directors of America as well as KAVOD – The Independent Jewish Funeral Chapels. Michael has served twice as the Chancellor Commander of Sam Harris Renaissance Lodge of the Knights of Pythias. He is a member and former officer of the Brandeis Lodge (Masonic Order) and serves as an active member of numerous fraternal and community organizations. Michael and his family are members of Shelter Rock Jewish Center.
Sy was a graduate of the American Academy of Funeral Service and a funeral professional since 1955. He began his career on the Lower East Side with his father-in-law, Harry Buchbinder, and devoted his life to serving the Jewish community in their time of need. The family tradition continued as Sy moved Sinai Chapels to Fresh Meadows, Queens in 1981, where he designed a state of the art facility that continues to bring compassionate person service of a new generation of the Jewish community. Throughout his career, Sy devoted much of his free time to many Jewish fraternal organizations. He served the community through his memberships in the Pythian Lodges, Odd Fellows and through his local synagogue. We were fortunate to have Sy with us at Sinai Chapels and continue to benefit daily from his experience and wisdom.
Harold is a veteran of the funeral service profession, beginning his career in 1964. He is President of the Apollo Foundation and Vice President of the Laurelton Welfare Association. Harold has served as Vice President at two Long Island synagogues and is also a member of the Odd Fellows, Free Sons of Israel and the Masonic Order. Harold is also a past Chancellor of three Pythian Lodges.
Anthony Caratozzolo is a fourth generation, licensed funeral director with Sinai Chapels. Anthony began working with Sinai Chapels in 2013 and he currently works very closely with client families in our preplan department. Anthony earned his degree in Mortuary Science at Farmingdale State University in 1987 and also holds a B.S. in Sports Management from St. John’s University. He is very active in community service, having volunteered as a basketball coach for local youth in his community as well as aiding the Nassau/Suffolk Disaster Squad as they helped with the wreckage of TWA Flight 800. Anthony is also a member of the Nassau/Suffolk Funeral Directors Association and the Knights of Columbus. He lives in Babylon with his wife and two children.
Christine has been a devoted funeral professional since 1992. She graduated from the Nassau Community College Mortuary Science Program where she was Class President and a Phi Theta Kappa. Christine received the John. J Megiell award for academic excellence and was recognized by the International Order of the Golden Rule. Christine enjoys providing educational seminars for students as well as adults of all ages. She volunteers her time to help with disaster recovery, veteran services and fundraising for various organizations. She is a member of the Jewish Funeral Directors of America and KAVOD. Christine is always in pursuit of excellence and considers it a privilege to be a source of guidance, comfort and strength.
Stephen has been a licensed Funeral Director since 1960. He has over 40 years of service to the Jewish community. He is a member of the Knights of Columbus, Knights of Pythias, Lions Club, Flushing Rotary, Flushing Kiwanis and the Brooklyn Elks Club. Stephen served as Chairman for the Brooklyn Mutual Society and the New York Jewelers.
Michael is a 1974 graduate of SUNY Farmingdale’s Mortuary Science program. Michael is a dedicated funeral director with over 35 years of experience. He strives to use his compassionate and caring skills to best serve the families that entrust their loved ones to Sinai Chapels.
Andrea graduated from American Academy McAllister Institute of Funeral Service in 2016 and became a licensed funeral director in 2017. She completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where she received a Bachelor’s degree in English. Andrea is an active member of UJA and participates in many Jewish charitable organizations.
John has been a licensed funeral director for 36 years and has been involved in the industry for over 45 years. He is a member of the Masonic Temple of Staten Island, Staten Island Filipino Organization. John has served members of the Jewish community for over 30 years with dignity and compassion.
